LinkedIn is a well-known network for discussing businesses and job prospects, however, as per Business Insider, the popular career-focused social networking site is now being utilised as a dating app.

One Gen Z respondent said she used the app to look for someone with reliable work and stable finances. She also stated categorically that she was not looking for a sugar daddy but rather someone who could truly take care of themselves according to Republic Asia.

She believed she could find out if a potential love partner met her prerequisites for a relationship by looking at their work history, educational background, and career goals on LinkedIn.

According to a post, Timothy Tart made on LinkedIn, there are seven reasons why people use the professional network for romantic purposes:

1. For a relatively honest profile.

2. For easy vetting.

3. LinkedIn–a great dating pool.

4. No fake accounts.

5. Can be used for connections/reference if it doesn’t work out.

6. Knowing that they’re serious people who are capable of commitment.

7. They could be a source of your success.

While using LinkedIn to find a partner may seem like a wise move, Temple University sociology professor Dustin Kidd clarified that the practice of "dating hacks," or utilising online resources meant for other purposes to secure a date, is the origin of the use of dating platforms like LinkedIn.

Kidd noted that utilising the direct-messaging feature was crucial.
