With a recent beta version, WhatsApp expanded its feature set by introducing polls to Android channels.
Some testers can now create polls in channels in the beta version (2.24.2.11), which is a replication of the feature that is currently available in individual and group conversations.
The paperclip icon in WhatsApp channel chats allows users to access the polls feature. With the help of this function, users can create questions with up to 12 possible answers.
Though the polls icon now appears in green instead of the usual yellow, the core operation is the same, guaranteeing anonymous voting.
This feature's existence suggests a potential wider release in the future, albeit it is not guaranteed for every beta tester. To use this feature, users of the Android beta should wait for the green polls symbol to appear.
Since this function is still in the early testing phase, it is unknown exactly when it will be available to all users.
Another beta release (2.24.2.12) fixes an issue that allows Android users to see the showcase of status update thumbnails next to contact names again.
These developments, along with current Android beta testing for improved text formatting and themes, point to an active phase for WhatsApp in the first part of 2024. This demonstrates their commitment to engaging users and delivering much-anticipated improvements.
