Ryan Reynolds gets special big birthday gift from Rob McElhenney, Chris Pratt

Rob McElhenney and Chris Pratt teamed up for a special Parks and Recreation-inspired birthday gift for Ryan Reynolds.

The Deadpool actor celebrated his 47th birthday on Monday and his pals went the extra mile for an elaborate present for the birthday boy. McElhenney took to his social media to show off what he had planned for Reynolds.

“You know how Ryan and I are always doing these elaborate things for each other’s birthdays?” McElhenney, 46, asks Pratt, 44, in the video clip on social media.

“This year, my idea involves a park,” he referenced Pratt’s role as Andy Dwyer on the NBC series, which ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2015.

The video then cuts to a new version of the Parks and Recreation theme song featuring clips of Wrexham, Wales, rather than the show’s fictional setting of Pawnee, Indiana. “Introducing the Ryan Rodney Reynolds memorial park in Wrexham, Wales,” McElhenney says in the voiceover. “Located on the site of the old Wrexham Hippodrome, this park will be beautiful.”

Reynolds and McElhenny co-own Wales football team Wrexham AFC.

McElhenney added that the park will have “open, green spaces, [and] pop-up restaurants,” “movie screenings,” “benches for old guys to swing on” and “a statue that may or may not look like Ryan.”

Also as a reference to Reynolds’ role in the 2011’s Green Lantern, he revealed that the park will also include “actual green lanterns.”

The birthday boy responded by sharing the video on his Instagram, writing, “Parks and Wrex!!! @RobMcElhenney, I don’t know how you stuffed @PrattPrattPratt into your windowless panel-van and forced him into our little birthday charade but I’m grateful to you for eternity.”

He added, “You’ve completely and totally outdone yourself. April is right around the corner.”
