The judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) have resolved that they will dedicate more time to hearings to swiftly announce decision of the cases on merit and deal with the rising trend of institution of cases.
The resolve was made on Saturday during the full court judges meeting that was held in the SHC’s committee room, sources said.
During the meeting, SHC Chief Justice Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui discussed the need for punctuality and dedicating more time for hearing the cases in order to reduce the backlog of cases keeping in view shortage of the judges of the high court as two judges of the SHC would retire this month, sources said.
The SHC chief justice also informed the meeting about the formulation of a new unit policy for monitoring and supervising the performance of the courts subordinate to the high court. He said the policy was at the final stage of constitution and would be implemented soon.
Through this policy, monitoring and inspection of judges would help ascertain the monthly performance of judicial officers and reports in this regard shall be placed before them on a regular basis.
The full court meeting also empowered the SHC chief justice to write and countersign ACRs of the judicial officers, sources added.
