‘Efforts on to achieve 100pc literacy in Fata’

PESHAWAR: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said the government is striving hard to meet the 100 percent literacy rate target in the Federal Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

He expressed these views while speaking as chief guest at the Annual Day ceremony of the Latif Foundation School in Rawat on Sunday, said an official handout. The governor said education was imperative for the progress of any society, adding the illiterate nations could never be able to hold any significant place in the world.

He said education is an instrument for socio-economic development of a country, adding basic education is the right of every child. The governor said steps have been taken and education sector is on the top of government priorities. He said education is the key to success and plays a pivotal role in the future development and prosperity of the nation.

 He said we can compete with the world only by improving the standards of education as an illiterate nation can never achieve the goals of development and progress.Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said the students are an asset to and future of the nation, adding and success are indeed the result of the endeavors and sacrifices of parents and teachers.

Congratulating the excelling students on this occasion, the governor advised them to pay a full attention towards studies. The governor acknowledged the role of Latif Foundation School, Rawat in the promotion of education. He said the quality teachers are very important to the quality education.

Zafar Jhagra said the load-shedding and energy crisis in Pakistan would end by year 2018 and we would have surplus energy. He said efforts are being made to ensure the rehabilitation and successful repatriation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to native areas in the Fata.
