Lashkar man, his son shot dead by TTP in Afghanistan

GHALLANAI: A member of the pro-government tribal peace body in Mohmand Agency and his son were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Sama Khwezai area in Afghanistan on Thursday. The bodies of Malik Nasrullah and his son Yasir Khan were later brought to their native village in Mamad Kor in Mohmand Agency for burial. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Mohmand Agency chapter spokesman Mukarram Khurasani told reporter that militants killed the Khwezai Peace Committee member and his son in Afghanistan. He said the tribal elder was killed for his active role in the pro-government peace committee and his anti-militants activities.

MANSEHRA: The city police have arrested a man who had allegedly committed fraud with people by posing himself as the son of a former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Attiqur Rehman, while lodging an FIR with the police, stated that Mohammad Atif Abbasi had got a room on rent in his hotel, introducing himself as son of former chief minister Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi and did not pay rent of Rs92000, besides borrowing an amount of Rs75,000. The Mansehra police arrested the accused and got his one-day physical remand. The city police said the accused had also committed a fraud with former National Assembly contender Shaheen Zamir and fraudulently got her luxurious motorcar and did not pay her its price.

 

Two-day cultural festival opens tomorrow

PESHAWAR: The Culture Department of Khyber Pakhtun-khwa will hold a two-day cultural festival from March 3 (tomorrow) on the premises of Nishtar Hall.

 

Speaking at news conference on Thursday, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the revival of old culture and tradition of province was the need of the hour as it had either vanished or overshadowed by so-called modernism.

 

The minister said the festival would provide entertainment and information about the traditional foods and cultural heritage of the province and Fata. He said that handicrafts, foods and other traditional items would be displayed during the festival. There would be traditional dances in the open at daytime while folklore music inside Nishtar Hall auditorium at night.

 

Man kills his mother in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: A man allegedly gunned down his mother for unknown reasons in Daulatpura village on Thursday, sources said. The sources said that the accused Kamran, son of Abdul Wakeel, took his mother, Rozina Bibi, to the graveyard in Spinkay village and allegedly shot her dead there. The accused escaped the scene after the murder.
