KHAR: The Government College of Management Sciences in Bajaur Agency has been facing staff shortage since long. The college was established in the 70s as Government Commercial Institute and was upgraded to postgraduate level in 2004.Its name was changed to Government College of Management Sciences. However, the strength of the staff was not increased.
People of the area have expressed concern on the issue. A resident, Kamal Khan, said: “After completing F.Sc in Computer Sciences from the college in 2014, my son Jabbar Khan was keen to study in the same discipline further but he could not do it because I am salaried person and cannot afford to send my son out of the agency for further studies in Malakand. So he quit studies and now he is running a computer shop in Khar bazaar.”
“If facilities of higher studies were available in the agency, my son would have completed his master’s in Computer Sciences,” he added.Principal of the college, Musanif Khan, said the college was equipped with all the necessary equipment like computers, rooms and labs for starting of Bachelor of Computer Sciences (BCS) programme but the only shortage was that of staff.
