The Sindh High Court has directed SSP West to file comments regarding the recovery of two citizens, one of whom is personnel of the Frontier Constabulary, allegedly missing since October 31, 2012.
The direction came on a petition of Khanzada who moved court against the forced disappearance of his brother and relative from Manghopir area. He stated Adnan Amin and Bilal had been allegedly picked up by the personnel of law-enforcement agencies and their whereabouts are unknown.
The court expressed dissatisfaction over the efforts made by the law-enforcement agencies for the recovery of missing persons and observed that Adnan and Bilal had been missing since 2012 but the police had failed to trace their whereabouts.
The court directed SSP West to submit a report detailing the steps taken to recover the missing men and adjourned the hearing for May 21.
Meanwhile on a separate matter, the court directed the federal and provincial law officers to submit their comments on a petition against illegal detention of a man by the personnel of law-enforcement agencies.
Petitioner Sana Khan submitted that her spouse Asif Khan had been picked up from Shah Faisal Colony on March 28 and his whereabouts had been unknown since then. However, the counter terrorism unit in its comments filed before the court denied the arrest or detention of the petitioner’s spouse while the Rangers counsel sought time to file his reply. The court also directed government’s law officers to submit comments on petitions regarding the disappearance of Mirza Zeeshan Baig who had been missing since January 2, from Buffer Zone area.

Plea against demolition
The Sindh High Court has restrained the local government, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and others from taking action against a marriage lawn without the due process of law.
The direction came on a petition of Mohammad Ali who sought injunction against demolition of a marriage lawn situated in Korangi area. He submitted that he had built the marriage lawn after completing all legal requirements. He alleged that KMC officials had visited his lawn and demanded money from him and on refusal they threatened him to demolish the marriage lawn. He prayed to the court to restrain the authorities from demolishing his establishment without the due process of the law.
