The height of inefficiency of successive governments can be judged from the fact that in just four years (FY2009-2012) the federal government has provided more than Rs1 trillion to state-owned enterprises – an amount greater than the cost of the Diamer-Bhasha dam
The government should introduce more direct taxes. For example urban tax – in the government would target the rich and tax houses of 500 sq yards (1 kanal) by Rs500 per month; 1000 sq. yards (2 kanals) by Rs1000 per month and so on. This monthly tax is so immaterial that the government would not have any problem implementing it.
