KARACHI: Pakistan’s professional boxer Mohammad Waseem has reached the United States for one-month training at the boxing club of Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, writes Alam Zeb Safi.

“Waseem reached America late Tuesday night,” his brother Mohammad Fahim told ‘The News’ on Wednesday from Quetta.

Waseem, who turned pro early last year, was scheduled to fight against an Indian boxer on April 15, 2016, in England, but it has been learnt that Waseem will be allowed to enter England only for a fight of eight to ten rounds. Waseem wants to play a bout of 10 to 12 rounds.

His promoter Andy Kim of South Korea is looking for another opponent for his next fight for which the Quetta-born pugilist rushed to America for training.  In America, he will be imparted training by Mayweather’s uncle Jeff Mayweather.

“Andy has arranged the whole training programme in America for Waseem,” his brother said.

A few days ago, Waseem told this correspondent that it would be a great opportunity to train with top sparring partners in the United States.

The boxer opted to play professional boxing after winning several important international medals during his golden amateur journey. He has so far impressed the experts with his superb showing in his initial two bouts.
