Another 32 test positive for corona
Rawalpindi : No death has been reported due to coronavirus illness, COVID-19 here in Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours however another 32 patients have been tested positive for the illness from the region.
The number of patients being reported positive for the infection per day from the region has been on the decline for the last one month but still the situation cannot be termed as completely under control. Ignoring SOPs, as is the practice, may lead to another wave of the outbreak as has happened earlier.
In August 2020, a total of 761 new cases were reported from the twin cities at an average of less than 25 patients per day but in the next two months, the population in the region faced another severe wave of COVID-19 outbreak.
In June so far, there has not been reported less than 30 patients a day instead around 1960 new patients have been reported from the twin cities in the last 29 days amounting to an average of 68 patients per day.
Many health experts believe that the number of patients being tested positive for the illness from the region is still high and the decision of relaxing curbs by the federal government at the moment may prove to be an unwise decision.
In the last 24 hours, another 32 patients have been tested positive for the illness from the region taking tally to 107,410 of which 1,768 patients have already died of the disease. Out of a total of 1,768 deaths so far caused by the virus in the region, 992 have been reported from Rawalpindi district while 776 from ICT.
As many as 23 patients have been tested positive from the federal capital and nine from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours.
In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid informed ‘The News’ on Tuesday that the positivity ration of COVID-19 from the district turned out to be 1.11 per cent in the last 24 hours. From Rawalpindi district, a total of 24791 patients have so far been confirmed positive for COVID-19 of which 23,660 have already recovered.
On Tuesday, 24 patients belonging to Rawalpindi were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities while 115 were in home isolation.
To date, a total of 82,619 patients from ICT have been reported positive for COVID-19 of which 80,885 have recovered while the number of active cases of the disease has been recorded as 958 on Tuesday.
