CHARSADDA: Elders of a jirga and officials of district administration resolved an old dispute over graveyard land between the two tribes in Matta Mughalkhel area in Shabqadar tehsil of the district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Haseeb-ur-Rahman said the jirga played a pivotal role in the Pakhtun society in resolving disputes and enmities.
He said that the importance of the jirga system cannot be overlooked as it always helped solve convoluted issues and brought peace to the infighting tribes and families.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (relief & human rights) Muhammad Ali Shah, jirga elders, including Ashfaq Khan, Mian Mohsin Shah, Sangeen Arshad Khan, Khair Muhammad Khan, Jehangir Khan, Wali Muhammad Khan, Prof Ibrahim Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
