Rawalpindi : In the last 24 hours, as many as three patients suffering from coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district died of the illness while the virus did not claim any life from Islamabad Capital Territory on the second consecutive day.
A total of 116 new patients have been reported from the twin cities in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 105,916 while the death of another three patients has taken the death toll from the region to 1,740.
It is, however, important that the average positivity rate of COVID-19 from the region remained over two per cent in the last 10 days with 1.89 per cent as the lowest on May 29 to 2.81 per cent on May 28 in ICT and 1.59 per cent to 4.56 per cent in Rawalpindi district.
In the last 24 hours, as many as 94 new patients have been reported from ICT at a positivity rate of 2.18 per cent and 22 from Rawalpindi district with 1.59 per cent as positivity rate of the illness.
Confirmation of 22 more patients positive for COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours has taken tally to 24,376 of which 22,978 patients have recovered while 977 have lost their lives due to the illness.
On Friday, the number of active cases from the district was recorded as 421 of which 31 patients were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in the district while 390 were in home isolation.
The virus has so far claimed 763 lives from the federal capital from where the total number of confirmed patients so far reported has reached 81,540 of which 77,062 patients have recovered. The number of active cases from ICT was recorded as 3715 on Friday after recovery of 577 patients in the last 24 hours.
