OKARA: A losing PML-N candidate for Ward No-42, Imran Younus, along with his hundreds of supporters staged a demonstration against rigging.
The protesters blocked the Okara-Faisalabad Road and accused winning candidate Amjad Javed (independent) of rigging the elections. On information, the A-Division police reached the spot and restored traffic after negotiation of one hour.
Meanwhile, three FIRs on election-related quarrels were registered at different police stations. The B-Division police registered an FIR against former provincial minister Muhammad Ashraf Khan of the PTI, Fayyazul Haq Azhar, a candidate from Ward No-17, and 25 others.
The same police also registered a case against 10 persons for quarrelling at the polling station No-24. A-Division police booked more than one hundred persons for setting banners on fire outside a polling station during a protest against the winning candidate.
