China Red Cross has donated Rs10 million for the relief assistance of earthquake victims, as a gesture of goodwill to the people of Pakistan at a difficult time.
Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong handed over the donation cheque to Pakistan Red Crescent Chairman Dr. Saeed Elahi at the PRC National Headquarters here on Wednesday.
In his brief remarks on the occasion, Ambassador Sun Weidong said that the Chinese government and the people stand with their Pakistani brothers in this hour of need. The Chinese government and people share the pain and grief of the affected people.
China and Pakistan are close neighbours, good friends and iron brothers. Chinese government, leadership and people always stood shoulder-to-shoulder and hand-in-hand with their Pakistani brethren to face this natural calamity.
Chinese president, premier and foreign ministers have sent messages of condolence to their Pakistani counterparts to express sympathy to the victims. The Chinese leadership has also expressed solidarity with Pakistan at this moment, he added.
Sun Weidong further said, “China stands with Pakistan whenever there was any disaster or difficulty. We have been together in thick and thin and in peace and war.”
China strongly believes that the government and the people of Pakistan do have the potential and courage to overcome all such difficulties.
Dr. Saeed Elahi thanked the ambassador for their generous support and hoped that the donation would help in alleviating the sufferings of the victims.
