Karachi The Counter Terrorism Department said on Wednesday a gangster alleged to be involved in a number of target killings was shot dead in a shootout in the Kalri area. The department said police raided a hideout at night after receiving information that Lyari gangsters were present there. On seeing the police arriving, the suspects opened fire on two cops, who retaliated. After the encounter, one gangster was arrested in an injured condition but his associates fled. The injured gangster, identified as Sameer alias Chhotu of the Ghaffar Zikri group, was taken to Civil Hospital where he died. Police said the gangster was wanted over the killing of three Rangers’ personnel.
