GHALLANAI: A soldier was killed and two of his colleagues sustained injuries in a roadside blast in Baizai tehsil of Mohmand Agency, official sources said on Saturday.
The sources said the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unidentified militants on the roadside in Suran Darra area near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan in the Baizai sub-division. They said the blast occurred as a patrolling party of the security forces was passing through the area.
The sources said a soldier was killed on the spot in the explosion while two others sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to a military hospital.
Meanwhile, security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation soon after the blast. However, there are no reports yet of any arrest.
