JAMRUD: A family accused the police of causing the death of one of its members during a raid on their house in Shakas area of the Khyber tribal district here on Monday.
However, the police rejected the claim and said the family was involved in smuggling of drugs. Sources said that the police raided the house of one Mukarram Khan Zakhakhel in Shakas area in Jamrudtehsil and allegedly tortured the family members while resorting to heavy firing. The uncle of Mukarram Khan apparently died of a heart attack after getting panicked as a result of the heavy gunfire. However, the cops said they had acted on a tip-off that the family was peddling drugs. The police claimed that the family also returned the fire.
