MMC starts online consultation & telemedicine services

PESHAWAR: The Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) has initiated online consultation and telemedicine services for those patients who can’t get physical access to consultants due to coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Javed Iqbal, a senior physician at the MMC, told The News they had shared information on the telemedicine on the official page of the MTI Mardan.

“Our senior professors, consultants and doctors from pulmonology, paeds, medicine & ENT departments had agreed to provide services to the public, especially those from the Mardan district,” said Dr Javed Iqbal. He said Dean, Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC), Prof Dr. Mohammad Fazil, formally inaugurated the telemedicine programme.Dr Javed Iqbal, Deputy, Hospital Director, Prof Dr Sajjad, head of Pulmonology Department, Dr Farhan Akram, a child specialist, and Mohsin Ali Khan, manager, IT and media manager attended the event.The programme will continue in three sessions on a daily basis which will be attended by senior doctors from multiple specialties. The schedule has already been shared with the public in several groups and social media page of the MTI Mardan Medical Complex.On Thursday, the first session was conducted by Dr Javed Iqbal, pulmonologist, Prof. Dr. Sajjad (ICU In-charge), Dr. Farhan Akram (children specialist), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Fazil (pediatrician), Prof. Dr. Naveed (medical specialist), Prof. Mohammad Said (chairman, ENT), and Prof. Dr. Mudassir (consultant, ENT).The first session was viewed by 8,800 viewers, 100 plus were consulted by telephone calls, 239 people were consulted by text messages and 132 shares were made by other peoples. There will be two live sessions daily i.e. morning and evening.
