Paid leave for workers demanded
Lahore:The prime minister and the chief ministers should ensure that workers employed in industries and commerce are paid monthly wages by their employers. A press statement issued by Khurshid Ahmed, general secretary, All Pakistan Workers Confederation (APWC), on Tuesday called upon the PM and CMs to issue orders that no worker would be laid off and the period of closure of factories would be considered by the employers as paid leave.
The APWC has demanded that the federal government and the governments of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gligit-Baltistan issue such lawful protection to industrial and commercial workers as allowed by the government of Sindh and allow payment of special relief for daily wage workers employed in various industries and commercial enterprises like the relief granted to the construction workers by the prime minister of Pakistan.
