MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department has formally launched free distribution of over 450,000 saplings among the farmers and people in Torghar district on Thursday.
“If we want to ensure pollution-free environment for ours and generations to come then we have to bring more and more land under forests,” Mohammad Azhar, the chief conservator forest Hazara division told an inaugural ceremony of tree plantation held in Palosa Hassanzai area of the district. The official, who also planted a saplings to formally inaugurate the tree plantation drive in the district, said that during current season over 450,000 saplings would be distributed free of cost among farmers and residents in the district.
“We want to bring more and more areas under forests and this current initiative is also aimed to achieve this target not only in Torghar but in other districts of Hazara division as well,” he said. Speaking on the occasion, Conservator Mohammad Shoaib said that forest department would also ensure that those plants given away to farmers and people free of cost were planted and overlooked accordingly. “Planting a tree is also a noble cause as while doing this you are also providing a hazards free environment to your contemporaries and generations to come,” the official said. The chief conservator forest later also distributed 5000 saplings among the farmers.
