Pervez Musharraf judgement hot topic at Bahrian National Day reception
Islamabad:The detailed judgement in high treason case against former President/Army Chief retired General Pervez Musharraf by the special court and rejoinder by the spokesman of the Armed Forces were the major subject of discussion among the guests in reception hosted by Bahrain ambassador Muhammad Ebrahim Muhammad Abdulqader here in Serena Hotel on Thursday evening.
The well attended reception was arranged on the occasion of anniversary of King of Bahrain accession to the throne and National Day of that country.
Ambassador Ebrahim Abdulqader who returned form Bahrain a day earlier termed the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to his country concluded early this week as highly productive and successful. The guests and especially diplomats were astonished about the ongoing tussle between the institutions and referring to the verdict for hanging dead body of an accused implicated in abrogation and subversion of constitution in ‘D-chowk’ of the federal capital for three days if he dies before execution of death penalty.
The verdict also asked for five times hanging of the accused. The supporters of the government were silent about the offence committed by the retired General, but they had technical objection about the nature and harshness of the penalty.
Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz was among the guests of honour who is leaving for London next week to meet and inquire about the health of former Prime Minister and Quaid of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif. He is close buddy of Nawaz Sharif. Saifullah Brothers appeared in a diplomatic gathering after long pause as Anwar Saifullah Khan, Salim Saifullah and Javaid Saifullah Khan attended the reception.
The Foreign Office appointed federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad as the chief guest for the evening who performed the cake cutting ceremony after playing of national anthems of the two brotherly countries. Former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) retired General Ehsan, Former Interior Ministers Senator Rehman Malik, Senator Wasim Shehzad, federal ministers Nurul Haq Qadri, Azam Khan Swati, Dr, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Aziz Boolani, Senator Anwar Baig, Chairman Investment Board Punjab Sardar Muhammad Ilyas, Alama Tahir Ashrafi were among the important guests of the reception. The guests also had discussion about the ongoing tension with reference to KL summit between important Muslim countries. They termed it ‘unfortunate’.
