Karachi
A human rights organisation on Tuesday filed an application with the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking inclusion of names of K-Electric’s (KE) director and officials in the Exit Control List (ECL).
The petition was filed by Human Rights Group of Pakistan against the power utility, both the federal and provincial governments and the civic administration for their negligence in ensuring uninterrupted water supply and electricity to citizens during the heat wave in June. Over 1000 innocent citizens lost their lives to the heat, the petitioner said.
Having already decided that the deaths were caused due to lack of basic facilities, the petitioner demanded to set up a judicial commission into the tragedy. The counsel of the petitioner requested the court to move the Ministry of Interior to take action in this regard.
