ANTWERP: Pakistan were humiliated by France 2-1 in the match for 7th position in World Hockey League.
The team looked completely out of sorts and demoralised throughout the four quarters of the game.
Martin scored the first goal for France in the 13th minute.
The second one was scored in the 30th minute by Hugo to ensure France’s victory.
Tauseeq Ahmad scored the only goal for Pakistan.
In their last match, Pakistan lost to Ireland which sent them out of the race for reaching Rio Olympics 2016.
Earlier, they had lost to England 2-1 in the quarter-final.
Meanwhile, captain Muhammad Imran denied his retirement news. There had been reports that he retired from international hockey after the defeat against Ireland.
Sources said these rumours were spread to turn the attention of public from real issues and save some faces in the PHF.
They said that Imran would decide about his international hockey career after reaching Pakistan.
He wanted to present his views in front of the five-member committee constituted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to undertake an inquiry into the hockey affairs and find out the reasons for Pakistan’s failure to reach Rio Olympics 2016.
The committee has been asked to present a report within seven days.
The committee is likely to meet in Lahore on Monday (today).
Chief coach Shahnaz Sheikh would also inform the nation and the committee about the reasons behind the debacle, the sources said.
They said it was awkward and against the norms to announce decision while away from home country.
