Afghan criminals’ gang busted; weapons recovered

Islamabad: The Islamabad Sabzi Mandi police has busted an inter-provincial criminals’ gang hailing from Afghanistan and involved in several dacoities in twin cities and recovered four pistols, two bikes and other valuables from them, a police spokesman said.

SP (Industrial Area) Sumera Azam devised special strategy to curb crime in the area. She constituted special team under supervision of DSP Fida Hussain Satti including SHO Sabzi Mandi police station, ASIs Adeel Shaukat, Zulfiqar Ali, Mudassar Siddique, Head Constables Sikandar Ali, Fakhar Ali, Constable Sher Khan, Imran Shafique and Altaf Hussain.

This team succeeded to bust a five-member dacoit’s gang red handed when they were planning to commit dacoity in sector E-11. They have been identified as Nazeeb, Hakmat Khan, Hameed, Ehsan residents of Afghanistan and Sohail resident of Rawalpindi.

Police team recovered six mobile phones, four 30 bore pistols along with ammunition and two bike from their possession. They were wanted to police in various dacoity cases in area of Sabzi Mandi police station.

DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed has appreciated the performance of Sabzi Mnadi police and directed all police officials for high vigilance and monitoring against those involved in anti-social activities.

He said that it is the collective responsibility of every person of the society to remain alert against those involve d in criminal activities in their surroundings and inform police for action against them. He also directed Station House Officers (SHOs) to remain vigilant and ensure arrest of criminals at large.
