LAHORE: Okara Police have been unable to decide the fate of an application lodged against some officials for violation of a stay order on the issue of a moga (canal outlet) even after lapse of 26 days.
The complainant has now filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against a powerful person and some officials for violation of the stay order. The first hearing of the petition is on May 4.
Complainant Chaudhry Akram Tahir of Bangla Gogera told The News he owns 367 kanals and 11 marlas of agricultural land in Moza Akbar and he also has a residence there. “My land is watered through moga numbers 173600 and 184100,” he said. The powerful person reportedly got approved a new moga (canal outlet) number 176756 from the Irrigation Department for the lands of one Ameer. The work on that moga was underway when the powerful person reportedly tried to get another moga, No 175656, approved on the request of the same person, which was damaging for Ch Akram Tahir’s lands and haveli.
The complainant got a stay order from a court of law in March. But an official along with a large number of policemen and over a 100 civilians, allegedly led by Ameer tried to construct the said moga on April 5, 2015.
The complainant showed them the stay order, but the officials did not show any respect for it. In violation of the court order, they started constructing moga, added Ch Akram. The complainant alleged that the accused also damaged the wind screen of his car.
