Robbers, thieves deprive citizens of cash, valuables

LAHORE: Robbers and thieves deprived citizens of their valuables, including cash and gold ornaments and vehicles worth millions of rupees during the last three days of Eidul Fitr.

Robbers looted valuables worth Rs400,000 from the family of one Raheem in Gulshan Iqbal, Rs300,000 from the family of one Shahbaz in Misri Shah, Rs275,000 from the family of one Sarfraz in Defence C, Rs100,000 from the house of one Adeel in Baghbanpura and Rs200,000 from the family of one Jameel in Gulshan Ravi.

Two cars were lifted from the areas of Johar Town and Defence B. Seven bikes were stolen from the areas of Yakki Gate, Naulakha, Lytton Road, Sherakot, Subzazar, Township and Faisal Town.

DIG: DIG Prisons Lahore Region visited different jails during Eid days. He offered Eid prayer at Central Jail Kot Lakhpat and distributed gifts among the prisoners. Special dishes were prepared for the prisoners on the occasion.

tribute: IG Kaleem Imam has paid tributes to those policemen who sacrificed their lives for the future of the nation and said the Punjab police is standing with their families. He expressed these views at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh after performing Eid prayer and visiting martyrs memorials.

He said it is the prime responsibility of Punjab police to provide best welfare facilities to the heirs of the martyrs for which all available resources will be taken. Addl IG Operations Punjab, Amir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Operations Lahore Dr Moeen Masood, DIG Investigation Sultan Ahmad Chaudhary, CTO Lahore Rai Ejaz along with many in service and ex-service officers and officials were present on the occasion. The IG laid floral wreath on memorials of martyrs and offered Fateha.

He distributed Eidi among children of personnel and martyrs of Police Lines and attended a ceremony with respect to Eid.

The IG said Punjab police is like a family whose members share grief and happiness equally and Punjab police will not waste sacrifices of more than 1400 martyrs. He said education for children of martyrs is indispensable for which all available resources will be used.

traffic wardens: Around 2,700 traffic wardens along with 10 DSPs, 130 inspectors and 45 patrolling officers performed duty during the last three days of Eid. City Traffic police also arranged 40 fork-lifters and four breakdowns to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, 88 lady traffic wardens and 22 traffic assistants were deployed at recreational and historical places to regulate the traffic.
