Bakhtawar Bhuto-Zardari distributed compensation cheques on behalf of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday at a ceremony held at Bilawal House to distribute cheques among the injured and heirs of those who had lost their lives in two bomb attacks in Lyari in the year 2013.
The ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, MNA Faryal Talpur, Senator Saeed Ghani, Sindh minister for Kutchi Abadis Javed Nagori, MPA Sania Naz and chief minister’s coordinator Nadia Gabol.
Cheques were distributed among the survivors and heirs of people martyred in the bomb blast at a football ground situated near Bizenjo Chowk in Lyari on August 17, 2013. Around eight people had been killed while 31 others were injured.
Earlier in the year, a blast at corner meeting of the PPP at Kumarwara Chowk had claimed three lives, besides causing injuries to 25 others.
Each of bereaved families of those martyred received a cheque for Rs500,000 while the survivors received cheques for Rs100,000.
Speaking on the occasion, Bakhtawar said that she held the same regard for Lyari she had for her hometown, Larkana. She said her mother too had high regard for people of the area.
Also speaking on the occasion, MNA Faryal Talpur, who is also the president of party’s women’s wing, said the PPP will continue to develop and serve every area of the province, including Lyari.
