It is heartening to see that during the holy month of Ramazan some affluent individuals and charity organisations have take on the task of helping those who are economically marginalised. Indeed, this move is instrumental in mitigating the suffering of the poor. Many organisations in Mianwali are actively involved in supporting the needy. Workers visit the district and provide ration and other necessary food items at people’s doorsteps. This supply of food items is enough to cater to their requirements at least during Ramazan.
Ironically, this sacred month adds to the miseries of the people with limited resources of income as the prices of the items of daily usage jack up exorbitantly. It is observed that a majority of vendors overcharge the customers while the authorities concerned seem helpless before hoarders and profiteers. It is incumbent upon all of us to take care of those who are financially weak and find it difficult to make their both ends meet. If we reduce our unnecessary expenses and resolve to help those trapped in the cycle of poverty, we can help alleviate their suffering to a larger extent.
