LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is also the PML-N president, said the people of Bahawalpur had played an unforgettable role in the creation of Pakistan and boosting national economy. The PML-N government had moved the country towards stability, he added.
Shahbaz was addressing a party workers convention at Bahawalpur through video link from Lahore, as his plane could not land there due to inclement weather. “Today, I have to come to you to discuss important issues and to exchange advice. However, it could not be made possible due to inclement weather, for which, I beg your pardon. By the grace of Allah Almighty, I shall be there soon to meet personally and to discuss the matters in detail. You will also be consulted with regard to the restoration of Bahawalpur province,” he said.
The CM congratulated the PML-N office bearers and workers for organising the event and southern Punjab had always been given priority in health, education, infrastructure, transport and other sectors.
He said those who ignored the people in the provinces ruled by them, would hide their faces in the elections. “One political party has ruined KP, while the other has wreaked havoc in Sindh.” He was talking to Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain who called on him.
Shahbaz said the people had given them a mandate to serve them but they ignored that. “Those who were responsible for delay in development schemes due to sit-ins have no concern with the future of the people,” he added. “Just like the by-polls, the people will reject them in the general elections also,” he said. “These are the people who have pushed the country toward darkness and they had only filled their pockets instead of utilising the resources on public welfare projects.”
“The opponents have set records of speaking lies while we have made new records of development projects. Our development schemes are a conspicuous example of transparency, standard and speed and the people will always remember the politics of public service rendered by the PML-N government,” he said. Also on Monday, Shahbaz presided over a high-level meeting to review the overall security situation in the province.
