The serious problem of drug addiction exists all over the world. The negative effects of this life-threatening addiction are widespread in our society. The easy access to drugs increases the risk of drug abuse among young generation. Recent study shows that there are about 500,000 heroin users including 60,000 drugs injectors in the age bracket of 15-45 years.
The criminal silence of the relevant authorities is further aggravating the issue. Steps should be taken to establish rehabilitation centres for people grappling with substance abuse so that they can be given a second chance to lead healthier lives.
