ISLAMABAD: Following the bold speech in the Senate, the Pakistan People’s Party removed Farhatullah Babar as spokesman for former president Asif Ali Zardari. But the PPP claimed that he had resigned as spokesman of former president and Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) President Asif Ali Zardari but would continue as PPPP Secretary General.
“Yes, I resigned as spokesman for the party and former president Asif Ali Zardari,” said Senator Farhatullah Babar precisely when asked about his resignation. However, he did not further dwell on the reasons of his resignation. However, PPP sources said that Asif Ali Zardari was not happy with him on his speech in the Senate and also his continuous speeches.
The sources said Senator Farhatullah Babar offered his resignation to Asif Ali Zardari who expressed his disliking on his Senate speech with saying, “It will create problems for the party.”
Later on, PPPP Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah through statement also confirmed that Senator Farhatullah Babar resigned as spokesman for former president and his resignation was accepted.
Dr Nafisa Shah said Senator Farhatullah Babar was an asset for the PPP and would continue his duties as PPPP Secretary General. Though the PPP had not given the reason of surprise resignation of Senator Farhatullah Babar as whether it was his farewell bold speech in the Senate in which he talked about the supremacy of Parliament. Just after the speech of Farhatullah Babar in the Senate, the PPP issued a statement on behalf of former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf disowning Farhatullah Babar speech saying that it was his personal opinion not of party.
