WANA: The father of Naqeebullah Mahsud, who was killed in an alleged fake encounter in Karachi, on Sunday dismissed reports that his family had been offered Diyat (blood money) to seek pardon for the alleged killer(s).
Talking to reporters, Mohammad Khan said some elements were spreading such rumours to promote their vested interests. “Neither anybody has approached us nor have we made any attempt to settle this issue,” he clarified.
Malik Kiramatullah, Malik Hashim Khan and other noted tribal elders were also present on the occasion. Mohammad Khan said the entire nation shared the grief of his family and the prime minister had declared Naqeebullah as the “Son of the Nation.”
He said his son was killed unwarrantedly. “The blood of my son was spilled without any justification,” he lamented. He said that staging protest against the extrajudicial killing of his son was their constitutional right. “We will stage protests as it is our fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution,” he declared.
The tribesman further said the Supreme Court had taken suo moto notice of the killing of his son and he was hopeful that the apex court would provide them justice and put the accused in the dock. The murder case was also being heard by the trial court in Karachi, he said, adding, a 19-member committee had been formed to pursue the cases in Islamabad and Karachi.
