Senate elections

The PML-N’s selection of candidates for Senate seats is as flawed as the decision by the ECP to convert the status of party nominees to independent candidates. In keeping with the current turn of events, the authorities should have either extended the date of submission of new forms signed by a new elected party president, giving the PML-N sufficient time, or accepted forms with the signature of senior vice president.

Further, the ECP should be involved in the scrutiny of candidates and the format of election form that is required to be submitted by all candidates. This form has been modified by excluding columns for the declaration of all assets held in their name and their families’, and the declaration by a candidate that he doesn’t hold dual nationality.
