Fake degrees on sale in KP varsity!

PESHAWAR: A kind of Axact scandal has surfaced in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, exposing tall claims of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government about the improvement in educational standards in the province.

According to official data, 33 students have been issued fake educational degrees and detailed marks certificates (DMCs) from 2015 to 2017. The official documents show that Swabi University issued 29 fake DMCs and four degrees. When the scandal broke, four employees of the university were suspended and investigations were initiated against them. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Imtiaz Ali Khan, confirming the scandal, said strict actions would be taken against all those involved in the fake degrees ‘business’. The documents available with the correspondent show that the Swabi University issued nine fake DMCs and one degree.

A student Israr son of Khitab Gul, roll number 20, registration number 14-25072-00595, failed in his MA English examination. However, under the same registration, Ijaz Ahmad, son of Raza Khan, was issued a DMC on Dec 15, 2015, which was received by one Kamran from the university.

Another student, Wazir Nawab, son of Muhammad Nawab, roll number 16, registration number 14-25072-00591, failed in his MA English examination. However, his pass DMC was issued to Abrar Hussain, son of Shamsher Khan on Dec 15, 2015, and the same guy Kamran received it.

A Political Science student, Zahoor-ur-Rehman, son of Shams-ur-Rehman, roll number 13, registration number 14-25172-000676 failed in his MA examination. However, his pass degree was issued to Danish Gull, son of Ata Muhammad, on Dec 15, 2015, and the same person Kamran received the degree from the university.

An MA Islamiat student, Muhammad Adeeb, son of Noorul Islam, roll number 77, registration number 14-25172-000619 failed in his examination. But his pass DMC was issued to Ahmad Nawaz, son of Syed Nawaz, on Dec 15, 2015.

An MA Economics student Waqarul Haq, son of Saeedul Haq, roll number 15, registration number 14-24052-00586, failed in his examination. However, his pass DMC was issued to Kashif Sultan, son of Sultan Bahadur on Dec 15, 2015, and Kamran received it.

An MA Urdu student Seema Rehman, daughter of Rehmanullah, roll number 51, registration number 15-25202-01218, could not pass her examination. However, her pass DMC was issued to Saadia, daughter of Hukam Khan on Jan 17, 2017.

An MA Islamiat student Tahira Begum, daughter of Syed Asghar, roll number 241, registration number 15-25112-01158, failed in her examination. However, a DMC under the same registration was issued to Saadia Gul, daughter of Hukam Khan on Jan 17, 2017.

An MA English student Ammad Nasir, son of Laeeq Khan, roll number 31, registration number 15-25072-01013, did not appear in any paper during the examination. However, his pass degree was issued and the same person Kamran received it.

Another MA English student, Nageena daughter of Wajib Khan, roll number 81, registration number 14-25072-00601, got cancelled her registration and didn’t take the examination. However, she was issued MA pass DMC.

In the same manner, 10 fake BA DMCs and two fake BA degrees were issued from Swabi University.

According to available documents, a student Zahir Hussain, son of Nauroz Khan, roll number 170, registration number 40-UOS-BP-13, failed in his BA examination. However, his pass degree was issued to a girl student Farhat Begum, daughter of Kishwar Khan, on Sept 30, 2016, and one Naveed Khan received the degree.

A student Amir Suhail, son of Wahidullah, roll number 244, registration number 118-UOS-BP-13, failed in the annual BA examination. His DMC was not issued. However, in the original marks sheet, another person’s name, Sajjad Ali, son of Noor Muhammad Khan, has been written.

A student Farhadullah, son of Maghfoor Shah, roll number 2000, registration number 14-25221-00056, failed in his examination. However, his pass DMC was issued to Asad Ali, son of Muhammad Khan on Sept 21, 2015.

A student Uzma Naz, daughter of Shahid Muhammad, roll number 2054, registration number 14-25221-00110, failed in the annual examination. However, a DMC under the same registration was issued to one Shaukatullah, son of Azad Khan on Sept 21, 2015.

A student Arsalan Khan, son of Fahad Dil, roll number 2086, registration number 14-25221-00142, failed in his annual examination. His pass DMC was issued to one Akmal Hassan, son of Faqeer Hassan, on Sept 21, 2015.

A student Shariq Ali, son of Sarzameen Khan, roll number 2122, registration number 14-25221-00178, did not appear in his annual examination. However, he was declared pass, and the DMC was issued to Suhail Ahmad, son of Misal Khan.

A girl student Haleem Saeed, daughter of Saeedullah, roll number 2169, registration number 14-25221-00225, failed to pass her examination. Her pass degree was issued to Hazeefa, daughter of Jannat Gul, on Sept 21, 2015.

Another student Iqbal Hussain, son of Juma Khan, roll number 2226, registration number 14-25221-00282 failed to clear his annual examination. His pass DMC was issued to a girl student Nayab Jauhar, daughter of Pir Jauhar Shah on Sept 21, 2015.

Muhammad Mustafa s/o Bradar Khan, Roll No 2256, Registration No 14-25221-00312, failed in the annual exam, pass DMC issued in the name of Sadaqat Ali s/o Muhammad Hanif on Sept 21, 2015. Muhammad Rohail Khan s/o Muhammad Samar Khan, Roll No 2336, Registration No 14-25221-0392, failed in annual exam, pass DMC issued in the name of Ali Askar s/o Muhammad Naseem on Nov 3, 2016 and obtained by Kamran.

Shakir Khan s/o Mian Khan, Roll No 4148, Registration No 15-25221-00170, failed in annual exam, pass DMC issued in the name of Muhammad Ayaz s/o Shad Ali on Jan 23, 2017. Shad Wazir s/o Izzatullah, Roll No 4040, Registration No 14-25221-00062, failed in annual exam, pass DMC issued in the name of Zulqarnain Haider s/o Faqirullah.

Jawad Ali Shah s/o Saleem Shah, Roll No 4773, Registration No 15-25221-00804, remained absent during the annual exam, but a pass DMC was issued in the name of Iqra Gul d/o Laiq Khan on Jan 23, 2017 and obtained by Kamran. Fauzia Gul d/o Afzal Khan, Roll No 10780, Registration No 17-25221-01330, her case was declared as fake and sent to the varsity’s relevant committee.

The University of Swabi has issued 10 fake DMCs and one degree for BEd. According to the documents, Shams-ur-Rehman s/o Abdul Qadeem Roll No 111, Registration No 13-25061-0136, remained absent from exam, pass DMC issued in the name of Shugla Qazi s/o Qazi Latafa-ur-Rehman. Rehmatullah s/o Hazratullah Roll No 112, Registration No 13-25061-0137, remained absent during exams, but a pass DMC was issued in the name of Ahmed Nawaz s/o Syed Nawaz.

Najma Shehzadi d/o Raid Ali Khan, Roll No 372, Registration No 14-25061-0715, remained absent from the exam, but a pass DMC was issued in the name of Syed Umair Shah s/o Iqtidar Ali Shah. Asma Mehmood d/o Khalid Mehmood Roll No 376, Registration No 14-25061-0715, remained absent from exam, but a pass DMC was issued in the name of Nazia Begum d/o Muhammad Usman.

Iftikhar Ahmed s/o Afsar Khan, Roll No 590, Registration No 13-25061-01248, failed in exam, but a pass DMC issued in the name of Sajjad s/o Ali Haider. Reema Gul d/o Awal Mir, Roll No 597, Registration No 15-25061-01255, remained absent from exam, but a pass DMC was issued in the name of Saddam Hussain s/o Ali Haider.

Shehla d/o Jalal Hussain, Roll No 598, Registration No 13-25061-01256, remained absent from exam, but a pass DMC was issued in the name of Hameedullah s/o Zakirullah. Bogus DMCs have also been issued to Nayyab Jauhar d/o Pir Jauhar Ali Shah, Roll No 834, Registration No 16-25061-01631 and Sehrish Gul d/o Laeeq Khan, Roll No 836, Registration No 16-25061-01633.

Meanwhile, a bogus BEd degree has also been issued to Sherish Gul Roll d/o Laeeq Khan No 604, Registration No 15-25061-01262. The same Roll No was allocated to Ayesha d/o Muhammad Sarwar with 15-26061-01551 as Registration No. Because of having the same Roll No, additional Registration No was allocated to Sehrish Gul. Her Registration No and Roll No for BEd annual exam as private candidate are 15-25061-1261 and 603 respectively. But the degree shows Roll No 604 and Registration No 15-25061-01262.

When contacted, University of Swabi VC Dr Imtiaz admitted that the bogus degrees and DMCs have been issued from the varsity in the past, but he has given special attention to the issue after assuming the charge in June 2017. He said he has ordered an inquiry and, as a result, assistant controller examination, secrecy assistant, office assistant and junior clerk were immediately suspended. The inquiry committee has also recorded their statements, which would soon be followed by action, the VC added.

Replying to a question, he said degrees and DMCs in some cases were issued due to political reasons and money in others. Dr Imtiaz said strict action has been taken to make the varsity affairs transparent so that there is no irregularity or fraud in the future, adding that no official involved in such practices would not be pardoned. He said efforts are being made to get back the educational certificates from those people in case of availability of their addresses; otherwise, the option to launch legal action is available.
