Aqeel, Shahzad cruise into tennis event final
KARACHI: The unseeded pair of Aqeel Khan and Shahzad Khan stormed into the final of doubles event of the Begum Kulsum Saifullah ITF Futures Tennis Tournament at Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Complex in Islamabad on Saturday.
Aqeel and Shahzad stunned Ergi Kirkin and Nikolay Vylegzhanin after displaying excellent teamwork, passion and resolve. They recorded a straight-set 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory.
The Pakistani pair made the nation proud by making it to their second final of the ITF Futures Doubles event in as many weeks. They previously went on to clinch the title.
In the first semi-final played earlier in the day, the second-seeded pair of Anton Chekhov and Alexandr Lebedyn overwhelmed their Russian counterparts after losing the first set.
The Russian and Ukranian pair made a comeback in the second set and closed out the match by sealing the third set.
