Vandalising judicial complex: MHCBA, DBA chiefs among 8 lawyers held
MULTAN: Hundreds of lawyers observed sit-in at Kutchery Chowk on Thursday against the arrest of their eight leaders and registration of cases against 40 lawyers and 100 unidentified persons, including the female lawyers, on charge of destroying the new judicial complex.
Police have arrested Multan District Bar Association president Yusuf Zubair, general secretary Anis Mehdi, Khawaja Qaiser, Multan High Court Bar Association (MHCBA) president Sher Zaman, MHCBA ex-president Mehmood Ashraf Khan, Syed Irfan Shamsi, Khalid Ashraf Khan, Javed Iqbal Ojla, Hussain Farooq Hashmi and Arshad Sabir. Cases have been registered against those lawyers who barged into the sessions court and vandalised it during a protest on Wednesday. Talking to mediamen, young lawyers’ representative Naveed Hashmi strongly condemned the arrest of lawyers and registration of cases against them. He said lawyers’ sit-in would continue til their release.
