Bilawal asks Nawaz to quit politics
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday advised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to announce retirement from politics as it would be in the best interest of PML-N and democracy.
“What else does Nawaz Sharif want from politics as he has already served thrice as prime minister and twice as chief minister Punjab? I think that it would be better if he takes a decision to retire from politics,” he said while talking to newsmen here on Monday following his visit to Parade Ground going to be the venue of his public rally scheduled to be held today (Tuesday) in connection with Golden Jubilee celebrations of PPP’s Foundation Day.
He added that he had also advised Nawaz Sharif to revise his stance about the national institutions particularly about the judiciary. He also asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen to accept court verdict.
To a question, Bilawal said Nawaz-government has not remained serious in governance for the last four years. During this period the country had no foreign minister and hence no foreign policy. Asked about the PPP’s future policy, PPP chairman said he would share the party’s plan of action during the PPP rally in Islamabad today (Tuesday).
During his visit to the Parade Ground, Bilawal was accompanied by Leader of the Opposition in the National assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, PPPP Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman, PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, PPP Information Secretary Chaudhry Manzoor, PPP Central Punjab Information Secretary Mustafa Nawaz Kokhar and other senior party leaders.
Earlier in a tweet on social media, Bilawal said that he is glad that Sindh chief minister will get an opportunity to present the case of PPP government in the Supreme Court. Earlier, Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry summoned Sindh chief minister in a water pollution case. Bilawal tweeted; “One of the biggest crises of Pakistan is water. The Sindh government has taken practical steps to address this issue, lining of our canals and construction of dams. I’m glad CM will get a chance to present our case in the SC.”
Bilawal claimed that the issue is not Sindh-specific, adding that the province is always “singled-out”. “Water is not just a Sindh issue. While we beat the drum of CPEC in Balochistan, many areas have no access to water. South Punjab has its own water issues as does southern KP. Even Islamabad has water access problems. What have other provinces done? Why is Sindh always singled out?” he asked.
