Rs6.82 billion approved for removing garbage from Pindi district villages

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Tallat Mehmood Gondal said that Rs6.82 billion have been approved under Khadim-e-Punjab ‘Saaf Sehat Programme’ under which one-time cleaning to be completed in all villages by 20 December 2017. He said that transportation of waste to dumping sites will cost Rs0.1 million per Union Council.
This Waste Collection Outsourcing will include desilting of drains of villages, Sweeping and cleaning of streets of villages, Lifting of solid waste / heaps of garbage in the villages, Transportation and dump off solid waste in the designated containers placed at the level of Union Councils. Furthermore he added that to make these scheme effective, training programs have been devised and 100 master trainers will be appointed to complete training on key matters by 30 Nov 2017.
These trainers will be conducting 2-3 training sessions per day and one session will include almost 30 participants including UC/MC chairmen, vice chairmen, female councillors, DCs and ACs, he shared.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Tallat Mehmood Gondal further added that Government of Punjab is providing all-out resources to improve living standard of people nevertheless this can’t be achieved without the support of general public and their trust on government. He said it is now responsibility of the departments to execute the schemes within time.
