PBC welcomes disqualification of Nawaz Sharif
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), the apex body of the legal fraternity in the country, on Friday welcomed the historic decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualifying the prime minister of Pakistan.
Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon, vice-chairman and Hafeezur Rehman, chairman Executive Committee of the PBC, welcomed the decision of the apex court disqualifying Nawaz Sharif. In a joint statement issued here soon after the Supreme Court announced its decision in Panama case, they said that this historic verdict of the apex court will go a long way in the history of Pakistan and contribute a lot in strengthening democratic system free from malpractices and corruption at the hands of top ruling personalities.
They commended members of the bench of the Supreme Court who have unanimously given their decision against the sitting prime minster for the first time in country’s history which is an ample proof of independent working of the apex court under the able leadership of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
They said the whole legal fraternity rightfully takes pride in independence of present judiciary and its functioning without fear and favour in accordance with dictates of the Constitution.
They also lauded the role of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for probing the matter pertaining to the case of PanamaLeaks with dedication and sincerity of purpose to digging out the truth of the matter.
