Lawyers protest shifting of LHC Multan bench to Lahore
LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said on Tuesday an action could be initiated against the ‘culprit’ lawyers on the pattern of Supreme Court attack.
The CJ constituted a two-member committee comprising Justice Yawar Ali and Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi to take action against the lawyers who misbehaved with the judges. According to the court sources, senior members of the Multan Bar might call on the committee within 24 hours, if they deem it necessary. After that, action would be taken against the guilty lawyers in the light of the Tariq Aziz case verdict, already pronounced by the apex court.
The judges called back from Multan have started work at the principal seat in Lahore. On the other hand, lawyers protested and held strike against shifting of LHC Multan bench to Lahore and calling back of judges from there.
According to a press release issued by the LHC, Multan LHC Bar Association President Sher Zaman Qureshi along with a lawyer had misbehaved with the judge, removed his nameplate and trampled it under their feet. Later, Sher Zaman announced a strike at the bar, the press release said.
