Like last year, a group of mothers and their children has planned to go to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the largest hospital of the federal capital, this Eid, too, to give away toys and snacks as Eidi to the minor patients spending the festival in the hospital.

This is part of an ‘eid toy drive’ started by Nazish Abbas last year. Ms Nazish told ‘The News’ that she wanted to teach her children the true spirit of Eid i.e. sharing Eid joy with the less privileged ones by giving toys and light food.

“This time around, our group will donate Eid goodie bags to at least 100 children and Eidi (money) to the lower staff members at the PIMS Children Hospital’s emergency department,” she said.

The event organiser said a group of children aged 8-16 years had donated their own toys, collected the money for snacks and packed the goodies bags by themselves. “The children will donate toys and snacks to the children by themselves under the supervision of their parents today (Friday) at 9:30 a.m,” she said.

Ms Nazish said the idea behind the activity was for children to share their donations and cheer with minor patients, who couldn’t even go home for Eid. “This event will give little patients some distraction on the special festive day with toys and snacks,” she said.
