Arab envoys host Iftar dinner for designated Pak ambassador to Mexico

Envoys of Arab countries hosted Iftar dinner Tuesday in honour of outgoing Additional Foreign Secretary for Middle East/Africa Affairs Taswar Khan who has been designated Pakistan’s ambassador for Mexico. Senior Additional Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ms. Tasnim Aslam also attended the feast who looked after administration and UN/international organisations affairs in the Foreign Office.

Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Essa Abdullah Al Basha Al-Noaimi who is also dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps, while expressing his views on the occasion said that Pakistan is a friendly and brotherly country for the Arabs.

Pakistan and Arab world have always supported each other in testing times. Pakistan has skillful and talented diplomat who had been playing important role in the international affairs. Ambassador Essa Abdulla, who has been successful ambassador of his country for six years in Islamabad, expressed hope that the ties between Pakistan and Arab countries would grow further in times ahead.

Ambassador Taswar Khan thanked the Arab/African ambassadors and said that the Foreign Office always availed the support of the countries of both the regions. Taswar Khan, who also acted as Chief of Protocol earlier, maintained that Arab/African countries are fully aware of the sensitive issues and act wisely in dealing with them.

Acting Saudi ambassador Marwan R Merdad and Palestinian Ambassador Walid A.M Abu Ali also took part in the discussions. Ambassador Taswar will leave for Mexico on 12th of July. The Arab ambassadors presented him soveniours on the occasion. Qatar Ambassador Saqr bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri was conspicuous with his absence in the farewell reception.
