The accountability court (AC) hearing a corruption reference against former deputy inspector general (DIG) Deen Mohammad Baloch and others on Monday reserved its order on the pleas for acquittal filed by the accused, all of whom claim innocence.

The court also issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against absconding accused Ahmed Baloch and Ghulam Akbar Memon. The case investigation officer was directed to submit by July 5 details of movable and immovable properties owned by the absconders so that the court could proceed to declare them proclaimed offenders.

Deen Muhammad Baloch, who had started his career in the police department as an assistant sub inspector and secured promotion to the rank of DIG in 2003, is accused along with Bukhsh Baloch, Riaz Memon, Ahmed Baloch, Ghulam Akbar Memon and others of misappropriating funds to the tune of Rs170 million.
