Cricket World Cup 2015 is less than a month away. Nobody knows who will win this competition but like all Pakistanis, I too would like our Boys in Green to bring home the Cup. We have a good squad and we have a fair shot at the Cup. Pakistan will play its first match against archrival India on February 15. We all know how emotional our nation is about cricket. I would like to urge my fellow Pakistanis to keep calm even if we lose a match; our cricketers would already be under too much pressure and if we humiliate them after one or two losses, we would be doing a disservice to our boys.
We really do not understand how difficult it is for these cricketers – they have not played an international match in Pakistan ever since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in March 2009. Playing away from home, being away from their families for months, getting negative press after a bad performance and many other such things can wreak havoc with anyone’s mind but our cricketers still play passionately for our country. We should give our cricketers a pat on their backs for whatever they have achieved under the trying circumstances. Best of luck, Boys in Green!
