I know what Imran discussed with COAS but won’t divulge it: Ayaz
LAHORE: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said he knows what Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan discussed with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, but he will not divulge it.
Talking to the media at an oath-taking ceremony here on Monday, Ayaz said those who tried to defame the former army chief and the army in the past should not have done so. He said political parties’ leaders took the decision of extension of the military courts for the sake of the country, though not very willingly.
He said political parties had to take the decision under the compulsion of safeguarding the interests of the country. He said such an environment would be created in the country in the coming months in which a witness could give evidence without any fear, and judges could give judgements without any fear.
The NA speaker said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had repeatedly said that he would accept the Supreme Court's judgement on the Panama Papers case, adding that we would have to respect the courts.
