Rulers initiate projects for kickbacks: Zardari
Says they want to be alive in history
LAHORE: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has said rulers initiate projects that help them get commission and kickbacks.
He said that the elections of ROs did not matter adding that the election of Iftikhar Chaudhry also did not matter.
Asif Zardari said, “Time comes and goes but we will remain alive in the history and the PPP will remain alive in history.” He said, “We have seen the Bangladesh carnage, Russian history, Iranian history, sufferings of Afghans, etc, but we did not learn lessons.”
He said that the rulers did nothing for the welfare of poor labourers, farmers and other underprivileged classes. He said that the rulers were not worried about jobless youth, waterless agricultural land and other issues of the common man.
He said that the rulers were establishing roads and bridges for earning commission. He said the rulers did those works that provided them commission. While addressing a ceremony in connection with the birthday of late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari said that he and Rukhsana Bungash had closely seen the worries and happiness of Nusrat Bhutto. Asif Zardari said that Nusrat Bhutto remained in coma for seven or eight years.
Zardari said, “We have converted our weakness into strength and we raised the slogan of Pakistan Khappe when the time came for saving Pakistan.” He said, “If we commit sin in democracy, we will have to compensate it in history and in front of Almighty Allah and in front of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto."
Asif Zardari said that the people had objected to him for seeking an apology from the Balochistan people. He said the people also objected to making KP adding that he had nothing to do with these people.
He said that the PPP had long history and it had always followed the thinking of protecting the supremacy of Pakistan. Zardari said they accepted the ROs election for the betterment of democracy adding that they would do politics and fight for the betterment of the country.
Zardari said, “We should closely watch what is happening in Syria, Iraq and Yemen and what is happening in Libya.” He said the PPP government tried to hold dialogue with the international community on the Syrian issue. He said that hundreds and thousands of people were killed and became homeless in Syria.
Zardari said, “We have to save Pakistan, its soil and upcoming generations," adding that if Pakistan exists, we also exist. Zardari said he used to meet Saddam Hussain and other rulers as he found no arrogance in these rulers. Zardari said he saw this arrogance in incumbent rulers of Pakistan adding that these rulers did not understand the real issues of nations. Former prime minister Makhdoom Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Qamar Zaman Kaira and others were also present on the occasion.
