Unhealthy meat seized in Mental Hospital

the Punjab Food Authority director-general along with Punjab Minister Food Bilal Yasin raided the Lahore Mental Hospital kitchen and caught the staff and contractor red-handed cooking unhealthy meat for the patients.

The team raided the Punjab Institute of Mental Health kitchen and caught the staff cooking unhealthy meat. The raiding team confiscated 150 kg  unhealthy meat from the premise. DG Nurulameen Mengal said that those who were responsible for the crime would not be spared at any cost.  

hospitals: A 15-member delegation of Turkish Ministry of Health called on Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique in Civil Secretariat on Monday.

According to a handout issued here, the minister, while talking to the delegation, said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the provincial government gave a great value to the cooperation of Turkish experts for health sector development in Punjab. He said the cooperation of Turkish health experts and engineers would go a long way for improving health sector infrastructure and working of the hospitals.

It was informed that Turkish architectural designers would extend technical cooperation in revamping of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. Moreover, the health experts would cooperate in infection control as well as use of modern technology in hospital waste management in Punjab. The Turkish delegation headed by Dr Hasan Cogal, comprised of public health experts, doctors and architectural designers. Secretary SH&ME Najam Ahmad Shah, Special Secretary SH&ME Dr Sajid Mehmood Chohan, Chief Executive Mayo Hospital Prof Dr Asad Aslam Khan, Additional Secretary (Tech) Dr Salman Shahid, Deputy Secretary Health and Coordinator Dr Yadullah and other officers were also present in the meeting.

Kh Salman Rafique said Pakistan and Turkey had close brotherly relations and the recent visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Turkey would strengthen the relations between the two countries. He said that leadership of both the countries were endeavouring hard for the economic prosperity of their people and development of the countries. He said that Turkey was extending great cooperation to Pakistan particularly the Punjab government in various fields.

It was decided that the delegation would visit Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Lahore General Hospital and furnish their recommendations. The members of the delegation while expressing their sentiments said that Pakistan is their second homeland and they are very happy to visit Lahore. They appreciated the hospitality of the Punjab government. The leader of the delegation Dr Hasan Cogal said, “We are happy and proud to work with their counterparts in Punjab for health sector development”.
