Queen Camilla meets Gisèle Pelicot, sends powerful message to victims as Andrew's scandal deepens

Amid the fallout of Andrew's dramatic arrest, King Charles's consort, Queen Camilla, met Gisèle Pelicot – a shining example of bravery whose courage shocked France – at Clarence House.

Their meeting preceded a powerful letter the queen wrote to her in 2024, whose impact the 73-year-old described as "overwhelming". 

In it, Camilla expressed her "heartfelt admiration at her courage, grace and dignity".

She is the victim of years of abuse by her husband, who is behind bars for 20 years for drugging her and raping her with other men.

In the landmark rape trial, which exposed the horrific acts, Pelicot waived her right to anonymity in the case, showing stunning courage, grace, and dignity. 

For her heroism, Paris bestowed her with the country's top order in 2025 – the Légion d'honneur.

Likewise, Camilla, who for decades championed the cause of abuse survivors, put up an admiring display in her conversation with Pelicot.

The meeting comes on the heels of several accusations Andrew is facing, which also include sexually abusing underage girls.

Earlier, Camilla was put on the spot when asked about her brother-in-law just hours after his arrest at his residence at the Sandringham estate.

"Are you concerned about Andrew's arrest, Your Majesty?" she was asked. But she chose not to respond to it. Instead, the queen waved.

However, her husband, King Charles, did issue a statement over his brother's arrest.

"What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities."

"Let me state clearly: the law must take its course," he said in a statement.
