The National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) will, within 30 days, conduct the free balloting process for allotment of 2,120 houses and 60 shops at the Turkish Housing Complex in Thatta to be handed over to affectees of the 2010 floods in Thatta and Sujawal.
This was decided in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Monday. According to details, the CM has constituted a nine member Execution Committee under the Hyderabad commissioner. This committee – comprising the Thatta deputy commissioner, DC Sujawal, DG PDMA, Abdul Wahid Soomro, Sadiq Memon, Arbab Wazir Ali, Dr Altaf Khawaja and Shoukat Malkani – will ensure transparent balloting through Nadra.
It would also formulate a mechanism for efficient maintenance of the complex and its amenity assets within four to five weeks. Addressing the meeting, Shah said Sindh had spent Rs8.5 billion for relief efforts after the devastating floods of 2010 and 2011. He said many individuals and organisations had come forward in support at the time, but Turkey was one of the few who remained committed to the cause.
